Ford Fashions Old Plastic Bottles into Sporty Seat Covers

With green initiatives and environmental concerns in the news every day, Pearson Ford is sure our drivers are aware that one of the biggest environmental offenders is the plastic water bottle. Presently, less than a third of plastic bottles in the U.S. get recycled, even though they can be put to great post-consumer use. Ford is aware of these issues, and the company has taken its dedication to green initiatives to a new level by recycling around two million of these plastic bottles (in partnership with the REPREVE company) to create seat materials for the upcoming Ford Focus, specifically its Electric variant.

Each new Ford Focus Electric will use twenty-two recycled bottles to make these seats- one portion of the Focus' new interior made with 100 percent clean technology. Water bottles will predominantly be collected from the North American International Auto Show and the Consumer Electronics Show, which will further decrease the automobile industry's impact on the environment. However, though the number of bottles at 2 million seems like a good portion of the bottles being used, it represents only five minutes worth of water bottles being consumed in America every day.

Would you like to decrease your carbon footprint? Pearson Ford will be sure to keep you updated on this issue and more information becomes available. In the meantime, why not take the current Ford Focus for a test drive? Who knows, it might be just the right "fit" for you and your family. When you're ready, stop by and see us at 10650 North Michigan Road Zionsville, IN 46077.
