The new automatic stop/start option improves fuel-efficiency by about 3.5 percent, though city drivers could see increases closer to 10 percent when paired with the Fusion's 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, which saves fuel when the car is running or standing at idle. With this increased efficiency, drivers could save over a thousand dollars over five years at today's fuel prices vs. the Fusion's midsize competitors. That's not all, though. You should also know that the new Ford Fusion will be available with several different engines types next year, so you're sure to find the one that's right for you and your family.

2013 Ford Fusion powertrain options include: a normally aspirated four-cylinder engine, a hybrid model, a plug-in hybrid, and two EcoBoost gasoline engines. There is currently a standard Fusion and a Ford Fusion Hybrid available for the 2012 model year.
