Ford Tries to Match a Sound to Their New Electric Vehicle

At Pearson Ford, we can't wait for the new 2012 Ford Focus EV to roll onto our lot. Electric vehicles are an amazing technology, and we are ready to stand firmly behind them. But, that is not to say that they are without any faults. First, and foremost, there is the issue of sound. While most people praise electric vehicles for their lack of engine noise, some lawmakers in Washington have brought up the fact that this presents blind pedestrians with a bit of danger, since they rely on engine noise to tell when a vehicle is approaching.

Luckily, this is not a major issue, since it is one that Ford can easily take care of. And, that is exactly what they are doing with the introduction of the 2012 Ford Focus EV. Sensing that artificial noise may soon be a requirement in all electric vehicles, Ford has set out to match a noise to the new Ford Focus EV. And, to do so, they have asked drivers from around the world to vote on a noise on Ford's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=163358687062875&set=a.123482424383835.19897.112397758825635&type=1&comments).

Ford's new EV is due out by the end of the year, so it is imperative that they find a new sound to match with it sooner rather than later. Ford is allowing fans to vote on the sound through the end of the month, so there isn't much time left to choose a sound that appeals to you! Make sure to vote. After all, this could be a sound you'll be hearing quite frequently from now on!

Ford's 2012 Focus EV is a model that can run entirely on high-voltage lithium-ion batteries. The vehicle is set to feature a very competitive driving range when fully charged, and it will make use of Ford's new MyKey technology, which allows users to set various features of the vehicle into a copy of the car's key.

In terms of its green features, the 2012 Focus EV will be equipped with a single-speed transmission. Basically, this allows the vehicle to match the high rpm range that an EV requires while also delivering quick responsiveness and smooth acceleration. The vehicle will also feature a regenerative braking system, with a brake coach that will help driver optimize its use. And, drivers who are curious about how much energy is being used will be able to monitor it through a distinct energy panel.

But, let's face facts: no number of green features can save a vehicle if it looks stodgy, bland, and uninspired. That is why Ford based their new EV on the already popular Ford Focus. It features customizable screens, a smart phone app, and Sony audio with HD radio. How's that for a trendy ride? It is certainly one that we won't mind having on our lot at 10650 North Michigan Road Zionsville, IN 46077.

Still, we realize that not everyone is searching for a hot new electric vehicle to buy. That is why we offer a wide range of new Ford models.
